The Honorable Mr Juan Andrés Fontaine Talavera Minister of Public Works Government of Chile Dear Minister Fontaine: I write to request a meeting with General (ret.) David Petraeus, Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, on his upcoming visit to Santiago on June 13 and 14. KKR is a U.S.-based investment firm with approximately $167 billion in assets under management from our 21 offices in 16 countries. Our funds include infrastructure, private equity, energy, technology, real estate, and credit products. We own approximately 130 companies with approximately one million employees globally. The KKR Global Institute is an integrated internal business unit that works across our funds to identify and evaluate new geographies and sectors for potential KKR investments. General (ret.) Petraeus is a Partner at KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute; he previously was director of the CIA and commander of coalition forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, and U.S. Central Command. We are hopeful to make our first direct investment in Chile in the near future and are currently examining general opportunities in the infrastructure area, in which we have a global portfolio of investment expertise in water, renewable power, midstream, telecommunications, LNG, and other relevant areas. Better understanding the government’s infrastructure agenda and Chile’s investing environment is particularly important for potential KKR investments.
