Dear Subsecretario Ignacio Guerrero, I hope this note finds you well. Following Mr Francisco Orrego’s advice, I write to request a meeting at your convenience to discuss International Investor’s plans here in Chile. Between 2013-14, International Investor developed a successful investor communications project with the last Piñera administration. We plan to open a permanent office in Chile this year, and are ready to support the country as it looks to secure more investors and make more international business connections for Chilean companies. We like the ease of doing business in Chile, its friendly institutions, people, stability and openness: and see this period at the early stages of the new administration as an opportunity for us to launch and grow a regional business from a Chilean base. Our plans include: (1) Growing a dedicated online business and investor relations asset for Chile. Giving the country an independent, SEO platform to connect with capital investors, which will validate and communicate your investment story. (Please refer to the beta version https://www.internationalinvestor.com/chile, which was launched recently.) (2) Building a companies and investment opportunities database for Chilean businesses, and use proprietary algorithms for matchmaking between business, investment and government partners. With a view to developing the machine learning capabilities of this tool. (3) Launching a series of regular private ‘Strategic Review’ roundtable dialogues between business leaders, international experts and government policy makers. Achieving better public-private collaboration on policy and industrial development strategy to improve business competitiveness. These will result in recommendations and suggestions for public-private action. But importantly, material we can also use to connect with international and domestic capital investors. We have already commenced work with Minister Juan Andres Fontaine and his team on one such project focusing on accelerating air transport growth in Chile.
